I've signed up for this D_M Prompts Drabble Edition thing. Unless Takhys creates a community for posting these drabbles, I'll probably post them in groups of 10-20 stories to keep Toph's journal relatively uncluttered.

That's a lot of prompts. )

Yeah, you've probably guessed it by now, but just so there's no confusion, I'm going to retire this account. The long breaks between Avatar episodes prevent me from playing this character the way I want to. And my interest in RP is waning anyway.

It's been fun dudes, but despite prior reports to the contrary, Toph will probably not return to the nexus, even after Avatar ends.

Mmm.

Here's some advice for you all: whenever someone says 'Come on, I know it smells bad, but it'll taste just like chicken pig,' avoid the suffering and punch them in the face before trying it.

No need to thank me. Yes, I know it's brilliant.

Toph leads Lyon to a small clearing on the outskirts of the nexus. It's a small, grassy plot about a two hundred feet across next to a sparce forest. Several boulders jut unnaturally out of the ground at the edges of the clearing and there are random trenches cut into the ground, making it apparent that Toph has trained her before.

"Here's my usual spot," she says as she flops down on one of the boulders. "It's no Earthbending ring, but it's far enough away from everyone that I don't have to worry about hitting anyone with a stray rock."

Anyone want to volunteer?

Toph practices her Earthbending in a silent corner of the nexus. The earth trembles as she slams her right foot down, causing a boulder to erupt from the groud and send topsoil flying in all directions. She doesn't mind when the bits of dirt rain down on her. It's the way things should be when you work with the earth.

She throws a powerful punch forward and the rock shoots forward before grinding into the ground and coming to a halt. With a quick flick of her wrists, the turf around the boulder erupts, sending jets of dirt shooting around the rock with enough force to push back any foe who tried to flank the obstacle.

For the finale of her kata, she leaps into the air and performs a spinning kick before slamming her heel into the ground upon impact, sending a fissure traveling through the ground that shatters the boulder. She climbs to her feet and runs a dusty hand through her hair.

Then she pauses.

What did she just do?

It was a spinning kick or something. She doesn't know any spinning kicks. It wasn't an Earthbending move. The more she thinks about it, the less she remembers about how she actually did it in the first place. It seemed natural at the time. But...

Earthbenders don't use spinning kicks like that!

She remains troubled for a few more moments before shrugging and flopping down on the dusty grass and folding her arms behind her head. Maybe it was something she picked up from sensing Katara and Aang practice and she mimicked it without really thinking. Eh, who cares, anyway?

It was kind of cool.

Comment here and I'll tell you one thing that I like about your pup (specify if you've got more than one). Then post this to your journal if you're one of about three people that haven't already.

Reply to this post, and I will tell you my favorite icon of your pup's (specify again). Then post this to your own journal using your own favorite icon.

Unfortunately for Toph, the last few reverberations of the reality explosion are particularly potent. Dislodged from her own universe, she is hurled through time and space until she finally settles in a new universe. A different universe.

Knowledge of the war between the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation is overwritten by the tales of the millennia-long struggle between the Kherubim and Daemonites. She is no longer a companion of the Avatar, but a trained warrior of the Coda. Her body ages until her physical prime, and will never grow any older due to the immortal Kherubim blood in her veins, which has also blessed her with geokinetic abilities.

She pauses, almost as if she's momentarily confused by the transformation. Then she launches into a series of training exercises to test her geokinetic powers.

The numbers of the Earth-born Coda were dwindling, but she'd be ready when the time came for her to prove her valor in battle.

There's news about the war. No one's shut up about it all day. They've even been thinking about making today a holiday. Ba Sing Se has been captured.

Ba Sing Se has been captured.

Do you know what this means? The war's almost over!

I gotta leave now. They're sending out a ship with reinforcements to Ba Sing Se. I'm getting on it.

Toph practices her Earthbending moves in a quiet corner of the nexus. She hasn't had much time to focus on refining her skills even further, so it's a welcome change of pace. She smiles as she stomps down and a large chunk of rock shoots up and hovers in front of her. She blocks out everything else, simply focusing on the earth.

And then something happens. It's so sudden and so natural that she doesn't even have time to react. She pauses in place, and the rock in front of her drops to the ground with a loud crash. In the blink of an eye, she's different. She no longer wears her familiar earthen colors; instead, she is dressed in dull red armor that covers a gray tunic. Perhaps most surprising is that she's no longer barefoot, but clad in matching red boots that come to a point at the toes.

Anyone familiar with her will notice the most striking difference: her eyes, instead of their normal dull green, are now a cloudy gold color.

Without missing a beat, she launches back into her training. She shoves a fist forward and a fireball shoots forward. She leaps into the air and performs a spinning kick while a wave of fire licks from her toes.

She lands and immediate begins the final move of the kata. Blue sparks begin to leap from her fingertips as she swings her arms around her body and widens her stance. Trails of electricity surround her body. She finally brings her hands together and then shoves her right fist forward with her index and middle fingers extended. A bolt of lightning erupts from her fingertips and shoots off into the distance, followed by a loud thunderclap.

Toph remains motionless for a few seconds before straightening up and exhaling deeply. The ground around her crackles and steams. She smiles. That would about do it for her workout for today.

((Toph's reality has been altered so that she was born as a noble in the Fire Nation instead of the Earth Kingdom. She'll still remember everyone she's met in the nexus, she'll just think that she's been a Firebender all her life.))

Toph doesn't celebrate Christmas back home, but she has a few small (mostly earth-related) things for her nexus buddies that do participate in the whole 'gift exchange' thing. All her notes are written in a Chinese script.

Terra )

Wendel )

Lyon )

Shard )

Hannah )

Hanatarou )

Courtney )

Taskmaster )

Akuma )

((If you have a character that really wants a random, Earth-related gift, just let me know and I'll add them. This is mostly just a list of characters that gave Toph stuff or that I had an idea what I wanted her to give them. Oh, and let's pretend that this was posted on Christmas. :D ))

Threads from a hat - [info]shiratorijun
When Sokka came up with the brilliant plan that the group should alter their appearances in order to remain more inconspicuous in case Azula sent spies searching for them, Toph was happy to comply. She simply removed her hairband and let her hair hang loose. Easy enough. She just wondered why the others made wide circles around her now.

Now she walks around in the nexus sporting what almost looks like the pelt of some wild animal on her head. It almost gives one the feeling that it could reach out and grab innocent bystanders at any moment, pulling them into its tangled depths. Toph simply whistles, utterly oblivious to how horrible her hair looks, and continues striding through the nexus.

She still wonders why most people are making wide turns to get out of her way.
